Anti-Stress Secrets and Meditations
The word stress itself is already stressful enough. In this generation, stress has become a very common concern to the point that there have been record-breaking cases of stress-related suicides, deaths, and illnesses.
In our blog titled Stay Calm, we focused on stress at work and how it affects our overall experience. Mastering how to stay calm at work will definitely help you set your mood for the day. However, stress is not only limited at work, there are many other events and situations that can cause stress and anti-stress solutions are key to combat these.
In recent studies conducted by The American Institute of Stress, statistics show 77% of people regularly experience physical symptoms caused by stress, while 73% experience psychological symptoms. Not only that, 48% also mentioned that they feel their stress has increased over the past five years, while 33% feel they are living with extreme stress.
These statistics are alarming, and not only does the percentages look high, the impact of stress is also concerning.
Sources of Stress
Stress affects you differently according to the source of it. But generally speaking, stress can affect you physically or psychologically which are the two common symptoms and results of stress.
People who feel physical symptoms from stress experience fatigue, headache, and upset stomach among others; whereas psychological symptoms include irritability or anger, nervousness, and lack of energy.
In other cases, the result of stress can be much worse. This is why managing stress has become a very significant topic recently to address the growing concern and instances of stress.
In the US, the following are the top causes of stress:
Job Pressure
Money
Health
Relationships
Poor Nutrition
Media Overload
Sleep Deprivation
Most if not all of these causes are naturally occurring circumstances. People experience each of these cases on a daily basis - work, relationships, media. Yet, these events and factors play vital roles not only in terms of routine but as key sources of stress.
