6 Effective Meditations: How to Focus Your Mind While Working Without Stress and Pressure

How to focus your mind | yoloabundance.com

Distraction does what it does best - distract you. Often times we find ourselves overwhelmed with tasks or bombarded by problems after problems, which makes focusing even more challenging. As your mind wanders from one thought to another, your level of productivity dwindles.

Even for seasoned task achievers this is a constant unconscious pet peeve that many of us face. Uncomfortable yet something that plagues our days.

The great thing is that there are multiple ways to manage distractions and actually find focus in a short amount of time (that does not require you to download a million apps or project management systems).

The question of “how to focus your mind” can easily be handled by actually knowing what focus means for you and which task needs your focus the most.

The key concept here is positive possibilities

When you are out of focus you are losing positive possibilities, and that can potentially be very harmful.

For example, if you’re spreading your focus too thin, trying to do too many things at once, you may not be able to complete any particular item fully. The effect of losing that result can render your efforts “incomplete” or some may find “useless”.

What positive focus does is it allows you to positively approach your circumstances and maximize your potential to do so much more - by taking you out of the struggle of being unfocused and focusing your attention to creating a more productive result and outcome (hence increasing the possibility for you to move forward).

Focus

By definition, focus means a center of activity, attraction, or attention; a state or condition permitting clear perception of understanding; or simply, emphasis. When we say focus it refers to the directed intention to fully dedicate your concentration to achieve a desired result. While sometimes competing tasks of varying priorities may distract and take your mind on multiple journeys at the same time, this desire to jump your attention from task to task are also counterintuitive to actually being able to focus fully.

An American Psychological Association scientific paper published more than a decade ago actually said that there is a true cost for multi-tasking on our neurological capacity. https://www.apa.org/research/action/multitask

According to entrepreneur.com, some common examples of circumstantial distractions include:

  1. Smartphones

  2. Background noise

  3. People Interruptions

  4. Clutter

  5. Hunger

Recognizing the downsides of multitasking and these common distractions allow you to create countermeasures to avoid them.

One solution to the overwhelm of too many tasks to do is delegation (which we speak about in our YUMMY Team Delegation video).

Another way is to get above the distractions and overwhelm and apply a “top down” approach.

Since the mind controls our actions and our state of being dictates our general well being and efficiency at work… (when you are in deep flow state you work much more efficiently than when you’re sitting in front of the screen trying to crank out the creative tasks), there’s no better way than to access the potential of your brain.

The easiest way of getting your brain on your side is through meditation

And, we’ve put together some of the Focus (focused) meditation to support YOU to get into a FOCUS STATE so that you can easily get back on track wherever you are (or have been thrown off).
