How To Create Content When You're On Holiday

How to still work on your business and do your marketing when you're on holiday (while ENJOYING your vacay!) in less than 20 mins a day!

When you're running a business you love and on vacation - you can completely shut off and enjoy the quality time with your family and friends (which is awesome)...

Or, if you want, you could also spend a little extra time (less than 20 mins a day) and RIDE on the relaxed and inspired wave... to build some content to market your business and continue the momentum that you've been steadily building.

We know that marketing and innovation are two very important factors for a business's ultimate success and here're 5 ways to leverage your vacation glee / chillness and have that sprout to work for you!

Take lots of Pictures/ Social Media Time!

Whenever you're inspired, you can take great photos and caption them with your values and message that is in line with your business message and YOLO Business Vision.

This is a great way to capture the spirit of your vacation and matching message with your brand.

Be creative!

Create Inspired Videos / Audios

The biggest challenge when creating audios or videos during usual office times is the structure and routine that is "less inspiring'.

Creativity can take a hit when there's little change and new input.

When you're out of your usual atmosphere or environment, so much room opens up for new inspirations and ideas. It's a great time to capture these thoughts in 1-5 mins as a video or audio for you to share with your audience.

You can do this as a social media post or a blog post (that you can later publish!)

Especially if you're exploring a different environment or see a great backdrop for a video with nice lighting - capture it! And bring it back to the message that you want to share with your audience.

Personally - I love doing this in beautiful hotels, pools, nature, or cultural areas with lots of colors.

Whatever inspires you - transfers to your messaging - so pay attention to your peak experiences 🙂

Topics can include Welcome Video to your site, FAQs, a way you're applying what you advocate during your holiday, a simple connective sharing on your topic, etc

Create a New Habit!

Vacation time is also another way to explore some new habits (or continue emphasizing some that work) that light you up even more!

Those new year resolutions that are collecting dust or something you're constantly lamenting, " Yeah, I need to ___________ (get healthier, be more creative, exercise more, x more)"...

Try it out in the morning when you are the most inspired!

Whatever it is - test it out - and create something you can do within 10 mins every morning while you're on vacation.

That way you can see if this new YOLO Lifestyle "routine" in action and decide if you'd like to integrate it when you're back.

Leverage a "reset". Integrate something that will fulfill YOUR wellbeing so that you can carry it with you when you're back.

If you're going to be on the go and don't have a specific schedule that you can depend on - you could leverage that and continue embodying your YOLO Commitments - in different contexts - and as a result

Inspired Writing

With every new day bringing in lots of different experiences, you're bound to find many connections between what you experience during the day and what you're working on within your business.

These could be metaphors, an inspiring conversation you had, or simply an inspiration on how you could serve your people more.

When I was learning how to snowboard in Whistler during the first draft of my You Only Live Once Life and Business Innovation style book, I saw lots of parallels between overcoming the terror of carving by ( shifting your weight on a snowboard to turn and change directions) and overcoming that learning curve to business.

One of them is focusing on where you want to go - no fall; to focusing on where you don't want to go - big fall...

Finding connection points for relating ideas is a fun and fresh way to look at your topic and stay in touch with your audience!

If you want to pop the content creation cherry (to master you speaking in your own/brand's voice) the best way is to do a bit of practice early in the morning!

Inspired Visualizations

With that space from your usual desk or space you work from - it's the perfect place for your imagination to jump to life.

Whether it's imagining where you want your business to be by the end of the month, or 5 years out, writing "as if" scenarios before you go to bed or when you're by the pool, or even in your phone when you're en route somewhere is a great way to capture these fleeting glimpses of "what is possible".

The "what is possible" is an open-ended way to explore and toss new innovative ideas in your products, offers, day-to-day business experience, way you serve your customers, etc.

Pick a topic that's most relevant to you and where you are at right now, and explore those boundaries with your imagination.

Ray Kurzweil, the author of Singularity, mentions that he sends his brain a problem to solve and wakes up with an answer that sometimes his cognitive day time brain does not reach.

It was also said that Tesla had this ability to use visualizations to test out his ideas in full function before putting them into action.
